iCloud Family Sharing

Overview
About Family Sharing
About Families
Set up

How it all works:

• One organizer for the family whose credit card will be used for all purchases
• Up to a total of 6 people, and 10 devices per person. Family options are:
- Parent/Guardian (will have access to approve downloads and purchases)
- Adult (no restrictions, no access to approve downloads and purchases)
- Children (managed by age until 18)
• If you have 2 different Apple Accounts, you can invite your second one as a family member to share content
• Parents can create an Apple Account for a child under 13 using Family Sharing.

Sharing options for everyone in the Family:

• Apple Cash Family
- Parents can set up an allowance using recurring payments or send money directly to children.
- Parents can see and limit kids' spending.
• Purchase and subscription sharing (apps, storage, music, TV and movies, news, games, or fitness). It’s possible to hide certain items from the family.
• A family photo album that everyone can view and add to.
• A family calendar.
• Up to 2TB of iCloud and iCloud+ storage
• Apple One lets you bundle everything together for one low monthly price
• Location sharing
- Using the People tab, you can invite friends to share a location or automatically receive location-based alerts — like when your child leaves school.
- Parents can even manage how their kids share locations.
• Find My
- Locate, send a signal to, or remotely erase any lost Apple device within the Family
- Allows offline, Wi-Fi–enabled devices to send out Bluetooth signals that can be detected by other Apple devices in use nearby.

Safety options for children:

• Ask to buy
- A setting in Restrictions lets you block automatic app downloads and all in‑app purchases automatically.
- Keep your kids from accessing movies, TV shows, music, music videos, apps, books, or podcasts that contain things you don’t want them to see or hear.
• Screen Time
- With downtime, you can set a specific time, like bedtime, when apps and notifications are blocked.
- Combined Limits lets you categorize individual apps and websites into easy-to-manage limits.
- Kids can ask for more time to finish what they’re doing before it turns off
- You can get weekly reports or see specific app usage, notifications, and device pickups.
Parental Controls privacy and safety restrictions
- Limit adult content or open only websites that you select.
- Set App Store Content Restrictions to add an age range to allow only appropriate content
- Install special web browsers that are designed to display kid-friendly content and nothing else.
- Set Communication Limits let you choose who your children can communicate with throughout the day and during downtime
Schooltime
- Blocks notifications and disables the use of all apps
- If they exit Schooltime temporarily, you get a notification Schooltime —for example, to check for messages or call emergency services. It becomes active again when your child lowers their wrist.
- Your child can turn it on outside of the schedule if don’t want to be distracted.

iPhone Assistive Access

Assistive Access makes it easier for people with cognitive disabilities to use iPhone independently. It can also be used to limit children’s access to a specific set of apps.

About Assistive Access
Set up

• Set up by a “trusted supporter” - a family member or caregiver who knows the person who will be using iPhone and can help them choose the apps and features best suited to their needs.
• Features are more focused
• Onscreen items are bigger
• Easier to navigate

Apple’s Health App and Medical ID

Not related to parental controls, but definitely related to keeping your kids safe and healthy: Medical ID, located within the Health App, allows first responders to access critical information without unlocking an iPhone. They will also see who to contact in case of an emergency.
